OUTDOOR WATER USE & RESTRICTIONS
NEW AS OF 7/2/2010
Even though we're getting tons of rain, water restrictions are still in effect. State law allows daily outdoor watering for planting, growing, managing, or maintaining ground cover, trees, shrubs, or other plants only in the evening, between 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. and only on certain days. Odd-numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Even-number addresses can water on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. No watering on Fridays. However, the law permits hand-watering anytime.
There are some exceptions to the restrictions. Outdoor water uses are also allowed daily at any time of the day by anyone for:
-Watering in pesticides and herbicides
-Irrigation of personal food gardens
-Outdoor water fountains
-Swimming pools
-Drip Irrigation
-Water may be used to wash hard surfaces, such as streets, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, school buses, fire trucks, emergency vehicles and police cars ONLY when necessary for public health and safety.
-Water may be used for other activities essential to daily business (This exemption refers to activities that are part of a primary operation of a business. For example, a window washing business or a mobile car wash business is included in this category).
